On August 29, 2013, the Family Dependency Treatment Court under the leadership of Judge Juanita Stedman graduated it’s 8th class of participants in the program! As a founding member of Reconnecting Families, the non-profit program that provides support to these families, Justin O’Dell participates in each and every graduation ceremony. Each graduation ceremony is hosted by Justin’s church, Marietta First Baptist. This year, Georgia’s Attorney General, Sam Olens, was the guest speaker for the commencement ceremony.
The Family Dependency Treatment Court program began as a part of Cobb County Juvenile Court in January 2006. The program only takes deprivation cases and sometimes transfers cases from Cobb Superior Court, if a defendant is in need of a higher level of care. It’s designed to break the cycle of substance abuse and neglect.
